@Hawdwerk & @JansportJ make some of the livest, most thoughtful music out here, therefore, even though I missed this email because I had finals 2 weeks ago, I'm still posting it because its probably going to be one of the dopest and most genuine videos from anyone without a 5 figure budget. Enjoy!

Hawdwerk & Jansport J x Prophit x COTN Studio Sessions/Show Performance
Via @JansportJ
Waddup everybody!Figured I'd pass these 2 videos along. The long-time homies/collaborators Prophit and COTN (Children of the Night) have finally made their way out to LA. COTN has been documenting their experiences out here. The first attached video is of a studio session that took place on 4/20 where we welcomed them to The Cov (West Covina) and threw a bunch of dope rappers on a Jansport J beat (Hawdwerk, Prophit, Avi The Most Ill, Poetik Force, COTN).
The 2nd video is footage from our respective tour shows. Hawdwerk and myself are currently on our "Cali Famous" Tour with Trek Life & J. Bizness, as well as Basicali. We invited Prophit and COTN to be apart of our Riverside stop for their "A Tribe Goes West Tour".

In this original series some good people from the L.A. hip hop scene will run off their "Best of 2009". The "Best" is their personal favorite projects that we saw drop in 2009...major label releases, free album downloads and/or mixtapes. As more clips begin dropping it will all make sense later...

Hawdwerk & Jansport J - High Power Moves: The Samples

Hawdwerk and Jansport J bringing you the samples that made them famous with High Power Moves: The Samples. Jansport J's MoveMeants will be dropping soon as well so make sure you keep homie on the radar. As far as this project goes, Jansport has a word on it.
Waddup!
So I just wanna thank everybody once again on behalf of Hawdwerk and myself for all of the love that we've received with our High Power Moves LP. The support has been tremendous, and the campaign isn't over yet. But I'll get to that a little later.
Ever since we dropped the project, I've had alot of producers and album-credit nerds (which I am myself) asking about the samples for certain songs. To knock it all out at once, I figured we should throw you guys all the samples in one download. So here you go:

Hawdwerk & Jansport J - High Power Moves [Album Review]
Its been a good week since HPM has dropped and I think that the album calls for a review. Usually we would review projects with a few days but I really decided to take the extra time to let the project sink in as a whole. But anyways, for those who are unfamiliar with Hawdwerk & Jansport J, they're just 2 regular guys from West Covina, California. Jansport J is a mastermind of production and Hawdwerk is a lyrical machine. Together they've constructed a major Album in High Power Moves which was released last Tuesday, Nov. 10th. So lets get things started:
Originality: 9.0/10
High Power Moves, unlike most pieces of work don’t fit a particular mold. Neither do we find that when we look into the context of the songs individually. An average artist might feel like a complete project would consist of your basic formula hype song, party single, conscious track reminiscent flashback and repeat. Hawdwerk and Jansport J come out of left field with tracks like She Smiles that sing tales of an era that was probably before your time. The ability of create projects that eclipse just one time period and region gets HPM a 9 for originality.
Many times when we talk about delivery, we talk about the ability of the rapper. However in this case, its actually Jansport J who delivers. The soul of these beats gives the album a sound beyond just hip-hop. Samples prove as the power player here as the crate digging of Jansport seems to add a symphonic sound to the whole album, every sample works well with Hawdwerk’s delivery and rhyme style. Hawdwerk’s bars are definitely what brings the Album together with some vivid storylines and some insane verses that will make you stop the music and make you rewind it until you can put it onto you facebook profile as one of your favorite quotes.
Conceptually this album is exactly what you wouldn’t expect from a FREE album. It explores the deeper and more realistic thoughts of the common person, without hitting any cliché’s or stereotypes. The ability to be sympathetic without becoming an absolute martyr or getting cocky/confident without falling into the “swag” movement is important. This along with an almost random order of tracks for this album allows topics to change at anytime. Life is, as the album is, unexpected, unrelenting and most people in their right mind will enjoy it.
OVERALL: 9.3/10
You can probably get by now that this album is crazy. You can tell exactly why the album took so long to make while listening to it. So many things seem as if they were carefully thought out and planned for their audience to enjoy, which is exactly how hip hop was meant to be. HPM draws a definitive line in the sand as to what an album is suppose to song like, so all you artist who are working on your free debut album, try to stack up. A job well done by Hawdwerk & Jansport J.

Hawdwerk & Jansport J - That Spliff (Feat. Poetik Force & El Prez)

Jansport J continues to take a new approach to producing with this kind of new age style. Usually I'd hesitate to co-sign the change in style. However! Given the fact that Jansport is hitting these joints out the park, you would be a fool not to support the movement. Hawdwerk is working hard as usual, I'd say his verse was the strongest of the bunch. Poetik Force, who's been seen working with the Cali based Blakface, and El Prez join in on the fun to make this a heavy west coast joint. HPM is coming November 10th! Dont Sleep!!

WOW. Thats literally what I have to say when I listen to this track. They absolute demolished this whole track, beginning to end. Jansport hits the production out the park and Hawdwerk lays down some absolutely insane bars to kill this track. You have to check this out. High Power Moves is due out November 10th, so don't sleep!
